How the free IR35 check works
Each answer is weighted by how strongly it points towards or away from employment, using the same factors the courts use: personal service and substitution, control, mutuality of obligation, financial risk, being part and parcel of the client's organisation, equipment, being in business on your own account, and the termination terms. Mutuality of obligation is treated as present in most engagements, following the Supreme Court's 2024 decision in HMRC v PGMOL.
